The season is beginning to change!

by Michalee Merritt

I love this time of year. Maybe because I know that I go on vacation every March? I think it is because I know that I will see more of my community coming out of hibernation. We all start to talk about what kind of hamantaschen we all like (I am partial to apricot). Then it turns to sharing recipes for Passover.

What I love the most is that more robust learning starts to take place at my synagogue. You can find small groups scattered throughout the building on any day of the week. One group is learning to play Mah Jongg, another group is learning Trope. On Shabbat during kiddush you find different tables of congregants talking about a book they all read, the Rabbi’s sermon, board games, or a Chai Mitzvah curriculum.

It’s an easy way to start a small group!

It’s an easy way to start a small group! You have a captive audience and who doesn’t like to share a meal and a conversation!
