Society with a Human Face

By Nina Fondiller Woldin

Yesterday at a bluegrass concert I was reminded of the power of community. The streets were filled with people enjoying music together – singing along and dancing – and good spirit seemed to permeate every interaction.

In observing this scene, I was reminded of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks (Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the [British] Commonwealth) who said: “Community is society with a human face, the place where we know we are not alone.”

“Community is society with a human face,
the place where we know we are not alone.”

Every day I am reminded of the importance of the Chai Mitzvah community, from an older gentleman who is looking forward to joining Marking Milestones, to parents of high school students receiving summer Israel travel stipends, and I feel so fortunate to be part of this community!

Join us in the coming year! There are programs for everyone: adults, teens, and families (including grandparents). We look forward to sharing!
