About the Program

The mission of Chai Mitzvah, The Resource Center for Jewish Engagement is to build community, strengthen legacy organizations and help people deepen their Jewish identity.

We are non-denominational and offer a broad range of materials and programs for small group learning, for adults, teens, and families. Chai Mitzvah groups meet both in-person and virtually. Groups can be lay- or professionally-led, or you can join one of Chai Mitzvah’s virtual groups. Our Scholars Circle program brings timely topics affecting the Jewish community relating to anti-Zionism and antisemitism from leading academics to lay and professional audiences at no charge.

What Makes Us Unique: Chai Mitzvah’s Two-Pronged Approach

Chai Mitzvah strengthens old, and builds new, relationships through both small group relevant text-based conversations and POP: the Power Of Passion. POP identifies personal goals for learning, social action, and ritual-spiritual development embedded in your organization. See our Celebration Brochure for an example of how this worked in one legacy organization.

Materials for Small Groups

Chai Mitzvah groups use specially designed materials. Easy to lead, a professional teacher is not necessary. The sourcebooks are clearly laid out and accessible to those of all backgrounds. Relevant texts in Hebrew and English from contemporary and traditional sources are included – knowledge of Hebrew is not necessary. Materials are available at little or no cost.

Scholars Circle

Scholars Circle free virtual live lectures are held every two weeks and bring timely topics affecting the Jewish community relating to anti-Zionism and antisemitism from leading academics to lay and professional audiences at no charge. After each lecture, there is a Q and A session. Additional resources and recordings of the lectures are included on our website.
