This is definitely a month to think about trees and the environment.
We recently celebrated Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of the Trees. This has gotten me to think about what a favorite or memorable tree story might be for me.
I have always loved trees, and moving to Florida, I’ve found myself really fascinated by the varieties of palm trees found here. Their large fronds are so graceful as they sway in the gentle (and not so gentle) breezes and wind.
I love seeing the palm trees that surround my home and adorn my front yard. I love watching the birds high up in the palm trees, the iguanas scurrying up the palm trees, and the orchid plants tied to the palm tree trunks that then become a part of the palm tree as they grow.
I especially love seeing the sunlight glinting on the palm fronds and the raindrops glistening on them after a Florida downpour.
The trunks of the palm trees are like works of art with their patterns in formation.
And… we must not forget the coconut clusters growing on them high at the top.
For me, the beauty and sheer thrill of being in and living in Florida is represented in these magnificent palm trees, and enjoying the many sizes and varieties they come in.
