Join Scott Shay for a conversation with Jewish-American filmmaker Daniel Robbins, winner of the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award for his comedy Bad Shabbos. Starring Kyra Sedgwick, David Paymer, and Method Man, the film hilariously portrays a Shabbat dinner gone wrong. Scott and Daniel will also explore the cultural impact of iconic films such as The Godfather and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and discuss how cinema shapes public perceptions of religious traditions and cultural identity.
Daniel Robbins is an NYC-based filmmaker acclaimed for his versatility across genres. He directed the horror hit Pledge (2018), which earned him Best Director at Screamfest and was distributed by IFC Midnight, as well as the comedy Bad Shabbos (2024), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the coveted Audience Award.
