After the Holidays it is Time for Autumn Reflection

by Michalee Merritt

As I sit looking out the window at the trees with the sunlight streaming through them, the leaves are so vibrant with the colors of gold, red, and even brown. The leaves are falling to the ground ever so slowly with the cool breeze.

I sit here and reflect on the recent holidays. Rosh Hashana was reconnecting with my synagogue community and sharing all the happenings of our families and what is to come. Yom Kippur was thinking about atonement and being a better person in this challenging world we live in. Sukkot was celebrating with new friends and family in their Sukkah. Simchat Torah is always a fun time with all ages and a wonderful way to wrap up the holiday season.

But what I really reflect on is what am I going to bring to my synagogue community this year.

But what I really reflect on is what am I going to bring to my synagogue community this year, what am I going to participate in at my synagogue, and the greater Jewish community. I want to keep the momentum of the holidays, of being together with family, friends, and the new faces in the crowd.

Chai Mitzvah is a perfect program to keep the momentum going.  Keep your community engaged, and they will keep coming back for more.
