 nt came to be in part  because its founder Rabbi Israel Salanter was conc
 erned that the yeshivot of his time were training Torah scholars who were
  devoid of menschlikheit\, of good\, decent character. He wanted Torah le
 arning to be applied to character development so that students might becom
 e wise and compassionate\, not merely learned. We will begin to apply tha
 t Torah to our own experiences.
