SUMMARY:Israel's Evolving Struggle for Survival: Old and New Threats
DESCRIPTION:Since 1948\, Israel’s survival has been continuously threaten
ed. The military threat is always the most fundamental and immediate: Isr
ael survives and her Jewish population avoids massacre and expulsion only
because her borders\, air space\, and sea links are militarily defended.
We also evaluate four other types of potentially existential threats —
economic\, demographic\, diplomatic\, and ideological. We then discuss ho
w supporters of Israel can help in the fight against the combined diploma
tic and ideological threats.\n\nDr. Shale Horowitz is a Professor in the D
epartment of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
His research has examined international and ethnic conflict\; the politics
of international trade and finance\; and the politics of market transiti
on and institutional change. He is the author\, co-author\, or co-editor
of five books and over 50 academic articles. His current research interes
ts include ethno-territorial wars and Chinese politics. He regularly visit
 s Israel.\nRegister Here
